Kindness to Animals in the Light of Hadith: Islamic Teachings of Mercy and Compassion

Kindness to Animals in the Light of Hadith Islam not only highlights the creation and purpose of animals but also strongly emphasizes mercy and compassion toward them. The teachings of Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) provide clear guidance on how humans should treat animals with care and respect. One of the most powerful examples is the Hadith about a woman who was punished for cruelty: The Prophet (ﷺ) said : “A woman was punished because of a cat which she had confined until it died. She did not give it food or water, nor did she free it so that it could eat from the insects of the earth.” ( Sahih al-Bukhari, Hadith 3318 ; Sahih Muslim, Hadith 2242 ) This Hadith clearly shows that cruelty to animals is a serious sin in Islam. On the other hand, Islam also teaches that kindness to animals is greatly rewarded: The Prophet (ﷺ) said: “A man felt very thirsty while traveling. He found a well, drank from it, and then saw a dog panting with thirst. The man said, ‘This dog is suffering as I was.’ S...
